128 1971-02-10 Leicester MPD

Leicester MPD was used as a stabling and fuelling point after the demolition of the roundhouse in 1970. A small single road maintenance shed complete with wheel drop remained in use until closure and 'mothballing' of the yard around 2000. The yard often contained around fifteen locomotives on a weekend in the 1970's as well as Leicesters own allocation of 08 shunters. Diagrams were all freight and this Peak, No.128, will have arrived on a service to Humberstone Road, Bell Lane or the Engine Shed exchange sidings.
