125 1974-11-17 Derby Works

On a dull and dreary November day. Both the ends were seriously damaged. Suprisingly she was repaired, accident details are:-

Bridgwater, 0504 hrs, October 23 1974, 125 working 6V86 19.42 (22 Oct) Derby – Exeter Riverside ran into the rear of the 6V35 1828 (22 Oct) Ince & Elton – Bridgwater hauled by 47441. Driver & second man were not seriously injured, guard travelling in rear cab died in impact.

125 left Bristol depot for Derby on November 7th 1974.

The loco was not released from Derby Works until 31st December 1975 by which time it was the last remaining loco on BR to be renumbered (except class 52), - emerging as 45071 and was the first peak to have plated over headcode boxes, obviously new noses being required at both ends.
