LNER A1 Pacific No 2566 (un-named) passes Craigentinny as it heads out of Edinburgh with an up express when new in 1924. Note the turnout (part of a crossover) in the foreground with its 'interlaced' sleepering - used as shorter sleepers were cheaper than full length ones but unusual on main lines.
