LNER A1 Pacific No 2556 Ormonde approaches Potters Bar with the 5pm up Newcastle express for Kings Cross in July 1928. This engine was coupled with a corridor tender for working the non-stop 'Flying Scotsman' in May 1928 without it being realised it still had short-travel valve gear and unsuitable for the non-stop run. So here we see it attached with a replacement GN-style tender from No 2552 which still being in the original livery had to have No 2552's number painted out.
