2500 1930s Haymarket
Sometime in the 1930s.
A splendid study of Gresley's 2500 " Windsor Lad " , named after a race horse and looking just like every thing a Top Link passenger engine should , here on Edinburgh's Haymarket Depot .
" Windsor Lad " had , in July of 1934 , been the first of the final batch of nine newly built "A 3 's " to emerge from Doncaster Works , with eight built that year and the last , 2508 " Brown Jack " a year later in February , 1935 .
As British Railways 60035 , " Windsor Lad " survived until withdrawal in September of 1961.
