LNER class A1 4-6-2 No 4473 Solario climbs out of Nottingham past New Basford with the 3.20pm Marylebone to Manchester express on June 19, 1939.

This express was unusual in running to Manchester Central not London Road. This was the only regular service to bring a Gresley Pacific or V2 to Manchester Central and then, as far as we are aware, only in 1938/9.
