The British Empire Exhibition at Wembley ran from April to November in 1924. The LNER's showpiece exhibit displayed in the 'Palace of Engineering', was the iconic ex-GNR Gresley 'A1' No. 4472 'Flying Scotsman'. The incredible preparation of 4472 at Doncaster in February 1924 is a tribute to the workmanship involved. Everything that could be 'bulled up' was and note those front buffers in particular!
