A1 4-6-2 No 4472 Flying Scotsman, in exhibition finish, leaves Wood Green tunnel on its first run after the 1924 British Empire Exhibition at Wembley with the 11.35am Grantham to Kings Cross express early in 1925. Note how the original nameplates were shorter and set further back on the splasher. It has been stated that they were prone to cracking and so 4472 received new plates sometime in 1928 which were longer and placed closer to the splasher face.
