There is probably only one name that everyone instantly associates with railways and that is 'Flying Scotsman'. On May Day 1937 in its LNER prime, still as an 'A1' class. No. 4472 is getting into its stride away from Sandy in Bedfordshire with a down express. Rebuilding to 'A3' specification would not happen until almost another decade had elapsed! In the 2020s it is still very much with us, iconic enough to feature on billboard advertising campaigns!
