SR 1757 1935c South of Polhill Tunnel

SR 1757 1935c South of Polhill Tunnel

Polhill Tunnel was constructed to carry the South Eastern Railway under the summit of the North Downs, between Orpington and Sevenoaks. The second vehicle is a six wheeled van with two sliding outside doors (of LBSC or LSWR origin?) and the passenger stock appears to be short bogie vehicles.Steve McCombe says "I think it’s circa 1935. The third rails are in place and electric services to Sevenoaks started in January 1935. Perhaps condemned stock was being moved with the introduction of EMUs to Sevenoaks via Orpington and Otford? "
