4792 1939-08-16 Peascliffe Tunnel
LNER class V2 2-6-2 No V2 2-6-2 No 4792 approaches Peascliffe tunnel with a down empty cattle train on August 16, 1939.
What is interesting is despite cattle wagons being pooled between the 'Big 3' (the GWR refused to play ball!), the train appears to be entirely LNER owned vehicles. Starting from the front they are, LNER Std design, ex GN, LNER Std design, ex GN, LNER Std x2 design, ex GE, LNER Std design x6 are the first 13 vehicles before identification becomes impossible.
