Italian Refrigerated Wagons 1933-08 11 Ipswich
The appearance at Ipswich Station in August 1933 of international railway rolling stock for freight was sufficiently interesting for Les Hanson to use a frame of his precious film.
These are Italian State Railways 16.5 ton refrigerated wagons. They had a 13 ton capacity that included 3 tons of ice in galvanised baskets. The principal route to Britain was from Zeebrugge to Harwich.
