Rebuilt Merchant Navy 35008 at Raynes Park with what appears to be a 4 coach (plus 3 vans) local passenger working. Locomotive appears to be in very unkempt condition.
We thought this was 35006 but it had been withdrwn in 1964 and also only ever carried a 5000 gallon 1st series tender. This loco has a re-bodied 5250 gallon tender which by 1967 were allocated to 35003, 35008, 35014 and 35026 and under close inspection it is most likely to be 35008. This had lost its nameplate by 1967 although they were restored for the ' Farewell to Southern Steam' special on July 2nd
