35029 1964-08-30 Exmouth Junction
35029 still looks rather splendid here surrounded by all the ash and " atmosphere " that a steam shed provided for the fortunate photographer in those happy days .
In a fairly presentable condition here " Ellerman Lines " was was later withdrawn from Weymouth shed in September of 1966 but did not suffer the unhappy fate of many others in the class and was preserved and subsequently put on display at The National Railway Museum in York in a " sectioned " form , with parts cut away to reveal its inner workings , providing a unique and fascinating example of a " Merchant Navy " now driven by electricity , albeit rather slowly !
