At the west end of Reading, heading east with an LNER designed 6 wheeled parcels van E70706 which was soon to be withdrawn, it was one of a batch of 6-wheeled passenger brake vans (code BZ) built in 1950. The whole batch was more or less still intact at 31/12/75, but 70706 had been withdrawn by 31/12/77 (the dates of compilation of the 1976 and 1978 RCTS Coaching Stock Books).
