60021 1960s Leeds Wortley South

On the southbound 3.26pm "White Rose" from Leeds Central to Kings Cross, with the smoke display arranged by Jim Carter!
It has just passed Copley Hill MPD which is on the left immediately beyond the lattice bridge. This bridge still exists and carries a footpath gently uphill from Whitehall Road into Wortley Recreation Park. This was the best vantage point for views of Copley Hill shed that was notoriously inaccessible to ’spotters’. ‘Wild Swan’ is crossing the bridge over the former L&NWR metals from Leeds to Dewsbury and onward to Manchester or the Calder Valley route. The lines to the left of Wortley Junction Box are those to Bradford Exchange.
