30806 1959-05-02 St Mary Cray Junction

SR N15 4-6-0 No 30806 Sir Galleron with the 1.55pm Ramsgate-Victoria at St Mary Cray Junction on 2 May 1959.

Robert Waterman provides the details "Carriage set 473 is depicted this time. This is the return working of the 9.35am Victoria - Ramsgate. Set 873 was again an 8 set comprising 6xBR mk1s in blood and custard plus 2xBulleids in BR(S) green. It included 3xCKs presumably to cater for the number of Naval Officers travelling to Chatham which was still a major Naval Base at this time.
Note also that 30806 is the very last King Arthur put into traffic with a 6 wheel tender for the Brighton line and was one of 8 of this batch adapted to take an 8 wheel bogie tender from withdrawn Urie King Arthurs or N15X Remembrances - this particular loco late in the previous year."
