42165 1950 Polmadie MPD

42165 1950 Polmadie MPD

LMS designed Fairburn '4P' class 2-6-4 Tank No. 42165. Built at Derby in September 1948 and withdrawn in February. 1965.
Some old traditions die hard! The Caledonian Railway was noted for the embellishments with which crews adorned the smokebox doors of their locomotives. Hamilton allocated 42165 is in absolutely immaculate condition and her and her crew are putting the other denizens of Polmadie MPD to shame in this lovely 1950 study.
