Beattock shed was double ended and built in two stages, this is the southerly older end of the structure nearer to the station but was seldom photographed as the locos normally stood at the other end. 42693 has broken glass in the rear spectacle plate and water leaking from a tank rivet but would serve for another two years so the Beattock staff must have rated it as a 'good un'.
