42289 1950s near Stalybridge

Ex-LMS Fairburn '4P' 2-6-4 Tank No. 42289 has left Stalybridge heading east along the Tame River valley, and is about to pass through the short Scout Tunnel at Mossley. It is heading towards Diggle and then under the Pennines into Yorkshire. The long-demolished Hartshead Power Station and Weir Mill alongside the Huddersfield Canal are on the left. 42289 was built at Derby in Oct. 1947 as LMS No. 2289 and was withdrawn in May 1965.
