On 28th December 1961, Fairburn 2-6-4T No.42088 waits at Broughton Astley on the former Midland Counties Railway main line to Rugby. In 1857 when the Midland Railway completed a new main line south to Hitchin and the Leicester – Rugby section of the Midland Counties was relegated to a branch, which was closed by British Railways on 1 January 1962.
