542 1910s near Coulsdon
LBSCR C2 0-6-0 No 542 on a coal train near Coulsdon in the early 1910s. It still has its original boiler with Salter safety valves. This was one of the seven members of the class never rebuilt and was withdrawn in Janusry 1937. There appears to be a NSR wagon in the train and the first PO is Baker Brothers, Gas Coal Contractors, No 492(?) of Reading. There are no dumb buffered wagons in the train.
All of which might help date the image.
