‘Patriot’ 4-6-0 No.45507 Royal Tank Corps pulls out of Lichfield Trent Valley on 7th July 1956 with a southbound express. It was built at Crewe in 1932 as LMS No.5936, renumbered in July 1934 as No.5507, becoming BR No. 45507 in October 1948. The ‘Patriots’ in their unrebuilt form were the first of the former LMS passenger classes to become extinct, with Royal Tank Corps one of the last four survivors when it was withdrawn in October 1962.
