45513 1949c Nuneaton

Unnamed ‘Patriot’ 4-6-0 45513 at Nuneaton, probably soon after a Heavy General repair at Crewe from January to March 1949 when it received BR lined black livery, having been renumbered at its previous works visit in June 1948. The first coach has an LMS style destination board showing the train was from Barrow. No.45513 was allocated to Preston from October 1947 until transferred to Crewe in January 1950. This picture was taken from the engine shed - the spotters on the bank opposite have chosen a good viewing spot. Nuneaton No.1 Signalbox is visible behind the train and the Coventry line junction in the foreground.
