The electric catenary is nearing completion, but steam still reigns supreme as the motive power in this 1959 view of Bridge 72 at Chorlton Lane near Crewe. Ex-LMS Stanier Rebuilt Patriot No. 45525 'Colwyn Bay' is heading an up express. 45525 was built at Derby in Mar. 1933 as LMS No. 5525, rebuilt by BR in Aug. 1948 and was withdrawn in May 1963.
