There is a mystery with this photo -why is it carrying train ID number W129, which in the 1951 WTT was for 1640 (Summer Sundays Only) Euston – Heysham? If this is Longsight it must have been turned, coaled and stabled with ID board still on. (shadows indicate facing south). W129 may be for for a different working, but the fact that it ends in an odd number indicates a down train from Euston.
Can anyone throw any light on this, or could it be anywhere other than Longsight?
