45515 1961-09-30 Treales

A Blackpool - Manchester train, passes Treales (near Kirkham, north west of Preston) behind No 45515 ‘Caernarvon’ on Saturday 30th September 1961. Released to traffic in 1932, this ’Patriot’ 4-6-0 was a nominal rebuild of withdrawn ‘Claughton’ No 5992, receiving its number. No part of the original engine was made use of again so the rebuild was in fact a brand new locomotive. Renumbering to 5515 took place in 1934 and final withdrawal came in June 1962.
