45522 1950s Stockport

Leaving the east end of Stockport Station in the 1950s, as the tunnels were demolished in 1958 and the wires put up in 1959/60 is ex-LMS Stanier 'Rebuilt Patriot' 4-6-0 No. 45522 'Prestatyn' is watched by a pair of 'track workers in decidedly non-high visiblity garb. The small wooden shelter by the Greek Street tunnel mouth looks for all the world like a 'privy' with it's door missing! 45522 was built at Derby in Mar. 1933 as LMS No. 5972 (later 5522), rebuilt with a taper boiler in Feb. 1949 and withdrawn in Sept. 1964.
