Although Crewe-built 'Patriot' No. 5543 was over three years old in August 1937, but yet to receive the 'Home Guard' nameplates. Nonetheless, in immaculate condition, it makes a fine sight at the head of an express passing a lofty set of signals at Ashton in Northants. It would be withdrawn in November 1962.
