Sweeping through Water Orton in Warwickshire in 1955 are an unidentified Stanier 'Black 5' being piloted by ex-LMS Fowler '4P Compound' 41070. The 4-4-0 is in its last months of a 31 year career and would be withdrawn in November 1955. I wonder if anyone has the knowledge and skill to operate a compound these days?
