40933 1950s Monument Lane

40933 1950s Monument Lane

40933 is at its home shed with the unique curved top tender built in May 1935 on a standard 3,500 gallon underframe. It ran for many years behind ‘Compound’ No.936 and in January 1954 was transferred to No.40933, with which it remained until July 1957; it was then paired with 40926. No.40933 was allocated to Monument Lane from 1951 until the end of 1957.

Ed Purcell adds - "This style of tender was also seen in Ulster on the NCC behind Derby built 2-6-0s and 4-4-0s."
