1509 1946-06-30 Derby mpd

With lettering and numbers that look disproportionately oversized, diminutive 0-4-0T No 1509 rests at Derby in June 1946. The unique shunting bell which this engine once carried has been removed from the front of the saddletank but the pedestal on which it was once mounted can still be seen. Built in 1890 it survived until October 1949 when withdrawn by BR as No 41509.
