7022 1971-08-09 Gloucester avoiding line

Recently taken off banking duties on the Lickey Incline which it had worked from August 1967. This is in the yard alongside the avoiding line.Western Region Hymek Diesels , including those numbered D 7021 to D 7025 and including D 7022 seen here , had provided banking assistance between Bromsgrove and Blackwell at the top of the renowned Lickey Incline following closure of Bromsgrove's locomotive shed in late September of 1964 . Officially allocated to Bristol Bath Road , but serviced daily at Worcester Motive Power Depot , these locomotives were themselves in due course later to be replaced by English Electric Type 3 Diesels .
