6646 1937-05-17 Rugby Station

6646 1937-05-17 Rugby Station

Ex-London & North Western Railway Webb '1P' class 2-4-2 Tank No. 6646. Built at Crewe in December 1892 as L&NWR No. 1152and withdrawn in May 1947.

A very moody evening photograph of 6646 at Rugby in May 1937. It will either be departing with a Down 'local' train (it is in the bay used mainly for Leamington trains) or possibly engaged on station pilot duties. Whichever, it's a lovely scene... It had been push-pull fitted in February 1931. And lasted until May 1947.
