One of the final survivors of the L&NWR's Webb 2-4-2 Tanks No. 46604 is awaiting its fate at Crewe Works in September 1955 having been withdrawn the previous month. The chalked question 'Cut Up?" on the tank side seems to be somewhat superfluous! 46604 was built at Crewe in Jan. 1891 as L&NWR No. 465 and withdrawal had come in Aug. 1955.
