30586 1960-07-15 Wadebridge

Beattie 2-4-0WT No.30586 at Wadebridge on 15th July 1960.
Peter Kerslake adds "One of the three Beattie Well Tanks at Wadebridge for china clay workings 30586 differed from the other two in having squared splashers above the driving wheels but was regarded by the footplatemen at Wadebridge as being the weakest of the three. Whilst 30585 and 30587 made it into preservation 30586 was condemned in 1962. During their sixty years at Wadebridge it was usual to find one of the trio engaged on station duties in and around Wadebridge station, with one working the branch line up to the china clay dries at Wenford Bridge and the third kept in steam on shed as a reserve."
