Brian Stephenson says "This view is almost unrecognisable to-day. Signalbox gone and foundations hidden under a platform extension. Everything to the left of the down line is under a 1980s housing estate. Siding on right just trees. The timbered house is still there in the far left hand background as are all the station buildings.
The train is possibly ECS to Bricklayers Arms or similar to clear steam stock from the Kent Coast as London Bridge was not normally a terminus for trains on our line. Trouble with the SR route codes you could not tell the type of train – goods or express passenger carried the same code. Interesting to see the electric lights actually working on No 34070.
The third rail is not in position though stored between the running lines ready for installation. The building on the near right is a sub station which is still there. The bright sloping item either side behind the signalbox is the brand new concrete footbridge. It had to be removed about 2015 as it was suffering from the concrete cancer"
