34095 1963-08-03 Seaton Junction
SR Rebuilt WC 4-6-2 No 34095 Brentor backing the 10.45am Waterloo-Seaton into branch platform at Seaton Junction on 3 August 1963.
We were a bit puzzed as to why this has been routed through a siding rather than via the direct connection from the down platform loop which can be seen between the signalbox and the train, but Derek Phillips has the answer -
"The branch train and driving trailer can be seen in the background, you will notice that there is a coach coupled to the front bufferbeam of the branch loco. The 10.45 from Waterloo did enter the down yard from the point at the end of the down platform and pulled up to the end of the yard, then the branch train pulled up to the rear of the 10.45 and pulled the Buffet car away and stabled where you can see it, and when clear the 10.45 backed down to the branch platform with the remaining five coaches to attach to the waiting tank engine which may be a M7 or Standard tank. What I am investigating is what happened to the Buffet Car?"
