Following rebuilding 34100 Appledore was a regular on the 'Golden Arrow'.

Robert Waterman explains "This is between St Mary Cray Junction and St Mary Cray on the LCDR line so has been diverted and despite what the headcode says is not going via Orpington. There are three possibilities from here (at this time the 'Arrow' outbound route was via Dover Marine as well rather than the earlier outbound route via Folkestone Harbour): 1) via Chatham/Canterbury East - which was by this time electrified throughout; 2) via Maidstone East to Ashford; 3) via Swanley/Bat & Ball to Sevenoaks then regaining the normal booked route in the latter two cases. There were individual route headcodes for each of these three alternative options but none are displayed here".
