34065 "Hurricane" was one of five Bulleid light "Pacifics" to work on the former G.E.R. section of the Eastern Region in mid-1951, joining 34039 "Boscastle" and 34057 "Biggin Hill" for evaluation dspite the fact that similar tests in 1949 with 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair" had proved unsatisfactory. It became necessary to transfer two more of the class to Stratford when early axle problems came to light on the new "Britannias", in the shape of 34076 and 34089, but by June 1952 all was back to normal and 34057 was the last to return home.
