34056 Croydon was one of the last batch of engines rebuilt, emerging from Eastleigh on Christmas Eve 1960. A nice shot at Plymouth North Road with a couple of enthusiasts just visible in the lane and behind 34056, a splendid viewing point from which to see all that's going on, and a location which has served such a purpose for many generations long since gone, still a favourite when there's a steam Special about! We believe this has come ecs from Friary to North Road using the WR ECS train class code. At North Road it will be changed to the standard SR Plymouth - Waterloo code. It will diverge on to the Southern at Devonport Jnc just west of here.
