34090 1966-07-23 Bincombe Tunnel

A seldom photographed scene as SR Rebuilt Battle of Britain 4-6-2 No 34090 Sir Eustace Missenden, Southern Railway drops off the rear of the twelve coach 16.00 up Channel Islands boat train headed by 34037 at Bincombe Tunnel on 23 July 1966. It has banked the train from Weymouth but as this has come up from the Quay the loco from the incoming train could not be used, hense it is fully coaled and facing Waterloo.
