SR Rebuilt WC 4-6-2 No 34042 Dorchester with a relief to the 9.25am Weymouth-Waterloo leaving Southampton Central on 23 June 1962. On the right is ‘Allesandro House’ which was a private property predating the opening of the Southampton & Dorchester Railway in June 1847. It was purchased by the LSWR in 1887 from which date it was used as the Station Masters residence for a number of years, and later for other railway use. It was demolished in November 1975.
