SR Rebuilt BoB 4-6-2 No 34089 formally 602 Squadron in around 1967. Bit of a mystery one this. The coaching stock and loco without nameplate must make it 1967. The signal is a GWR one fitted with a BR(S) upper quadrant arm. The station in the distance is in BR(S) colours so I guess it must be somewhere near Weymouth formerly GWR transferred to the Southern Region.

Robert Waterman says "Pretty sure this has just passed through Upwey & Broadwey station. The signal in the foreground is the Upwey down advance starter. By the date of the photo a Southern upper quadrant arm has indeed been fitted to a GW wooden post. In the spring of 1964, if my recollection is correct, this post still retained a GW lower quadrant arm. I remember drifting slowly down from the station on a Bournemouth - Weymouth local waiting for this signal to clear for the road on to Weymouth. "
