Rebuilt West Country 4-6-2 No 34100 Appledore comes round the curve from Shortlands with the last up steam hauled 'Golden Arrow' on the evening of June 11, 1961. This clearly shows the new junction layout commissioned for the 1959 Phase 1 Kent Coast Electrification. This raised the speed limit here from 40mph to 60mph to and from all roads.
