Throughout 1959, station pilot duties at Doncaster were routinely carried out by J6 0-6-0s (usually in very dirty condition!). Here, on 1st May No 64270 is loitering in the northbound platform 5, slightly less encrusted in grime than No 64258 which was also on duty that day.
