64179 1957 Doncaster

A bit of a quandary this photograph. The locally allocated 0-6-0's side rods are removed and on the footplate, (normal place if a casualty out on-line attended to by the Shed Fitters) and they are loosely tied on. Looking at the leading brake blocks, whilst acknowledging that they did hang very loose at 'release', the leading brake cross-beam pull-rod is not visible (removed?). The boiler washout plugs are out and the tender looks to be fully coaled. So I wonder, had it been a casualty requiring removal of the leading pair of drivers on the drop-pit and the opportunity was taken to give the boiler a 'going over' possibly if a CMEE Inspection was nearly due? As I said previously, a quandary. Access to Shed Repair Records may contain the answers and indeed 64179 went into The Plant in November 1957 for a General overhaul so this is immediately before that.
To help complete the information from another photo 64179 was on the cripple road with the rear drivers removed on 23 September 1956
