D5511 1960s Acton

D5511 1960s Acton

Soon after it entered service, D5511 approaches Acton on the line from Acton Wells Junction with a train of Shell/BP oil tanks. It was one of the Pilot Scheme Brush Type 2 A1A-A1A diesel-electrics built in June 1958 and allocated to Stratford. No. D5511 had a short spell on loan to the Scottish Region for trials soon after it was built, but remained at the East London depot until withdrawn in 1976. Note the two barrier wagons behind the locomotive and the open rear cab door.
