Headcode 86 indicates London, Sawbridgeworth or Intermediate stations and March or Whitemoor and this is on the Up main at Trumpington heading south. This stye of headcode was unique to the Great Eastern area and officially used between June 1962 to April 1966 but the GE section appear to have started a little sooner, possibly by 1960. The first vehicle in the train is a LNER fitted cattle van and it is an interesting make up of the train, we tend to forget how often Express Freight had a fitted head with NPCS in their composition. Estimated date but as neither locos have yellow panels it is most likely early 1960s.
