D5553 1967-09 Stratford

With experimental flashing lights it was ahead of its time -these warning lights were fitted to four Brush type 2 & four EE type 3 locomotives at Stratford depot in April/May1966. The lights were being evaluated in service trials on the ER. The lamps had clear glass and flashed alternately left and right.

3 Brush Type 2s and 3 EE Type 3s were fitted with these lights:

D5553, D5556, D5632
D6720, D6721, D6722

The lights flashed blue.

D1509 was fitted with a 7inch Lucas fog lamp mounted above each buffer and amber instead of clear glass in the route indicator panels.
